Safe mode doesn’t resolve issues

Last Update: July 23, 2026

Issue

Enabling safe mode does not resolve Elementor issues.

Possible solutions

Following are the solutions:

Meet system requirements

Check if you meet system requirements. For details, see Elementor System Requirements

If you don’t meet the memory requirements, edit your wp-config.php file or ask your hosting company to increase your WP memory. For details, refer Editing wp-config.php

Enable Editor loader method

Follow these steps:

  1. Login to WP Admin.
  2. Go to Elementor > Editor> Settings.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Enable Switch Editor Loader Method.
    loader method
  5. Click Save Changes.

Make the back-end and front-end URL same

If the URL in the back-end is different from  the one in the front-end it can cause blank page error to occur. Make sure that the Site Address (URL) is similar to the WordPress Address (URL) to avoid loading issues. For details, refer to Giving WordPress Its Own Directory.

Follow these steps:

  1. Login to WP Admin.
  2. Go to Settings > General
  3. Make the Site Address (URL) the same as the WordPress Address (URL).
    site address
  4. Click Save Changes.

Fix white screen of death error

In rare cases, the white screen of death can occur because of a program installed on your computer. To rule out this possibility, edit from another computer.

Check for fatal error

Sometimes, this can happen because of a Fatal error. To confirm this,

  1. Login to WP Admin.
  2. Go to Elementor > Editor > System Info
  3. Click Download System Info.
    system info
  4. Check if there are any PHP errors logged.

Resolve Browser add-ons issue

You can get the loading page because of an add-on installed on your browser. In this case, you can switch to any of these other browsers:

  • Safari
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Opera

Resolve gray page error

To confirm, check the error messages of your browser console.

  1. Right click on the webpage.
  2. Select Inspect > Console

The Console shows errors in red with the location and line number where it occurred.

Change the X-Frame-Options from DENY to SAMEORIGIN. Ask your hosting company to solve this.

Note
If you use traefik and docker then add this to your docker-compose…
traefik.frontend.headers.customFrameOptionsValue: SAMEORIGIN

Switch off Rocket Loader for Cloudflare users

Cloudflare users may need to either switch off Rocket Loader or add rules to Cloudflare. When Rocket Loader is activated it can take time to load the editor of Elementor and sometimes you will get stuck on the gray loading page.

For a detailed solution, see Elementor And Cloudflare Rocket Loader

Resolve plugin conflict

Follow these steps to check for plugin conflict:

  1. Activate Safe mode and check.
  2. If the website works, do the following:
    1. Temporarily deactivate all of your plugins except Elementor and Elementor Pro. If the Go Pro message disappears, then you know one of the disabled plugins is causing the problem.
    2. Reactivate each plugin, one at a time, until the problem reappears. The last plugin reactivated is the cause of the problem.
    3. Contact the 3rd party plugin’s developers to get help with resolving the conflict, or use a different plugin with similar functionality.

3. Check for Corrupted Content & Widget Conflicts

If Safe Mode and plugin deactivation do not resolve the issue, the root cause may be corrupted content. This often happens due to empty strings or unresolved IDs (causing JavaScript errors in the editor), misconfigurations during layout creation, empty dynamic content tags, or connectivity interruptions while saving/publishing.

⚠️ CRITICAL: Deactivating widgets in the Element Manager will temporarily remove them from both the editing panel and the live website. If you save or publish a page while these widgets are deactivated, you may permanently lose that content. Always ensure you have a full, verifiable website backup before proceeding.

Step-by-Step Resolution

  1. Navigate to Element Manager: Go to your WordPress Dashboard > Elementor > Editor > Element Manager.
    element manager
  2. Isolate the Faulty Widget: Deactivate the suspected widgets one by one (or in small batches), then refresh the Elementor Editor to see if it loads successfully.
  3. Identify and Restore: Once you find the specific widget causing the crash, reactivate all other widgets in the Element Manager so the rest of your site content remains intact.
  4. Clean the Affected Page: Open the problematic page in the Elementor Editor. While the corrupted widget type is still inactive in the manager, save or publish/update the page.
  5. Rebuild the Widget: Return to the Element Manager, reactivate the widget, go back to your page, and add the widget manually as a brand-new element. Reconfigure its settings from scratch to ensure no corrupted data carries over.

Template-Level Troubleshooting

If Element Manager troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, or if the page relies heavily on templates (e.g., Headers, Footers, Single Page/Post templates), the corruption may exist at the template level:

  1. Unassign the Template: Go to Elementor > Editor > Saved Templates (or the respective template location) and temporarily remove the display conditions, or switch the template status to Draft for the problematic page.
    saved templates
  2. Test Page Loading: Refresh the affected page. If the page loads successfully without the template assigned, the template itself is corrupted.
  3. Delete or Remove the Corrupted Template: Keep the corrupted template in Draft or move it to the Trash to completely break its association with the page layout.
  4. Recreate from Scratch: Rebuild the template as a brand-new Elementor template. Avoid copy-pasting massive layout chunks from the corrupted template, as this can migrate underlying corrupted JSON data or broken strings into your new layout.

If the website still does not work, submit a ticket to Elementor support.
